What is life? How to make the most out of life? Everyone wants to know the secret to live a life of fulfillment. Let me tell you what I have learned in my journey of life.

Life can only be lived if we learn how to make it happen. Many people just let it happen. And when they do, they let things flow. If they would expect the universe to work in their favor and wait for the entire world to do what they are supposed to do themselves, nothing will happen. Those who are successful know what they must do. They are responsible. But what is responsibility? It is the ability to respond. When you are supposed to respond, you must take charge and do it. So they make it happen.

That’s not all that is to life. For Life to truly be what we want it to be, we must make it happen and this means honestly working on every detail of Life. Let’s take charge of every moment of our life, be responsible and make it grow from a small plant to a big tree. Excelling, improving day after day, Every day. The day you stop growing you start dying.

The one fact of life, that most people tend to forget, is that Life has no rewind buttons. Therefore we must reach far ahead in life, doing things that give us fulfillment. We must not waste time doing things we shouldn’t and things we don’t want to. We must realize that there is no going back to yesterday, last week, last month or last year. If we have already ruined the past- it’s gone, never to return. What we do have is Today; we must make the best of it.

I recently met a friend who said, “I just want to live my life the way I want to. I want to do so many things but I can’t live my life because of something or the other.” I told him that he will never start living, if he doesn’t start from today; this very moment. Live the way you want to! It is your decision, it is your choice and if you must make that choice. Do it today, don’t wait for tomorrow; like they say “Tomorrow never comes.” Don’t say that you will start living from tomorrow or that you will start enjoying from tomorrow. If you want to start something, start it now! Life will not wait for you to live; you have to give it all that you have got. Life is a short journey; a valuable one, don’t miss it! Use it or lose it!

Life can be what we want it to be. Very often we wish for our lives to be something different than how it is, but life is what we make of it. It is our choice. And how life is today, is all because of the circumstances we have created as we have lived. Can we change it today? Of course we can. We can change where we are and with whom we are. If we know that something else will give us happiness, it is absolutely necessary for us to change. And if we are happily content, then we must learn to value it. We must appreciate it, treasure it, invest in it and be grateful for it. We should give back to it because only then it will remain the way it is. We must grow, evolve, improve, transcend and move up into the sky in pursuit of it. And while doing so remember, “Life is what we make of it.”—RVM
